Create a purpose for yourself and stay focused on it. A meaningful goal gives the mind direction and prevents it from circling endlessly around negative thoughts. If the thoughts are persistent, meditation can help, not by forcefully erasing them, but by allowing you to observe them without being controlled by them. Over time, you can understand their source, let go of what no longer serves you, and begin again with a clearer mind.
